At Windows 7 x64 workstations, Generic Applications remain installing although they have been installed allready.

Cause

This unwanted behaviour is caused by the absence of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREScenseSoftware or the absence of the apropriate permissions for domain users for this registry key.

Workaround

As a workaround, a dedicated Scense Taskset is available that automatically creates the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREScenseSoftware with the apropriate permissions for domain users.

Download information

This link is available for downloading the taskset:
Scense Software key
Date: 7 juni 2012

Installation instructions

  • Log on at a workstation with Scense Explorer credentials
  • Download and save the file ScenseSoftware_key_x64.spk.
  • Start the Scense Package Wizard from startmenuScense
  • Browse to the downloaded file ScenseSoftware_key_x64.spk
  • Follow the instructions and complete with the “Finish” key
  • Open Scense Explorer
  • Look for the taskset “ScenseSoftware key x64” in
the new folder “Import: ScenseSoftware key x64 – (date time)”
  • Assign the taskset to the user group “Domain Users”

From now on, at user logon the taskset will conditionally create the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREScenseSoftware with the apropriate permissions.
